Testimonials

We pride ourselves on making your stay memorable and we hope that that does not mean a 0230 fire drill like I experienced in DC during my last stay!!

Disclaimer – we know we are not perfect, but with that knowledge we always try our hardest. I have served fruit shakes instead of fruit plates, sometimes we don’t have sun-dried tomatoes for the penne, and we had to change the name of the breakfast bagel to the breakfast ‘recession’ – do you know how confusing bagel and bacon are??

We always try to please you and we know sometimes we may come up short ‘cause there is only so much any of us can do. Sometimes our credit card machine does not work, sometimes the ac is not the best, sometimes we miss a light that needs to be fixed, sometimes the showers are cold. Don’t let it go un-noticed – tell us – if we can fix it we will or make an alternative arrangement that works for you!

Keep us on our toes and tell us where our weaknesses are – help us to help you more!! We do aim to make sure none of this happens, but expect the unexpected and more. We thank you in advance for your understanding and your flexibility.

Please read our testimonials – taken from our Seven Suns Guest Book over the last year or so. The originals can be found in our Guest Book where you will find people from all over the world have shared their comments and thoughts about their stay. We also have an overall rating with Hostelworld – our main internet booking provider - of 84% based on a combination of character, security, location, staff, fun and cleanliness. Hostelworld comments, taken directly from the website are noted with HW. We also have an 83% ranking with Hostelbooker!

An amazing guesthouse, what you see in the picture is what you get. The rooms are spotless and very well lit. Included is satelite tv, and your own toilet/shower. The staff are incredibly helpful and the tour company they use exceptional. All of the guides speak English and do not try to sell you on anything.

The food at the restaurant is very good, the breakfast especially tasty and a very good price. The beds are comfortable and it is centrally located (within walking distance of Muay Thai ring and all of the night markets)... right in the middle of the old city (this is where you want to be). The beds are comfortable as well... I have travelled a great deal and as a place to stay as a couple, you can't get a better deal

A peaceful place to stay. Rooms lovely - excellent pristine sheets and enormous double beds, and cleanliness excellent. Some of the rooms are theme-decorated (mine had a "Hello Kitty" theme!) which is worth asking for, if you like that kind of thing. Personally I loved it! It's a bit of a walk to the action but OK if you like a bit of a stroll.

Very nice staff, went out of there way to accommodate us even when we came early in the morning from an overnight trip. Excellent service. Thanks a lot.

Shower is poor, little to no hot water. Staff is friendly and the in-house restaurant makes great food. Location a bit out of the center of thing but not outside of walking distance
Michael February 2007
‘We loved the area, even though at first it seemed far from things, it was a great idea not to be near the night market and have a quiet room with a great hot shower and toilet and tv. We are planning on going back again to Seven Suns.’

“a fabulous place to stay. Chiang Mai is a fantastic city and Thailand is awesome. If you get the chance go white-water rafting and quad-biking – you won’t regret it. If we come back (and I hope we will) we’ll stay here again’.

‘Thanks for the lovely stay. The rooms are bright and comfy and the extensive TV channel selection, aircon and water in the fridge were greatly appreciated! The food is lovely and caters for all ages / tastes, we ended up eating practically every meal here (and we were nowhere near close to trying everything!)

The staff are so friendly and helpful – we arranged all out outings through them (all of which turned out to be good fun and high quality) and there was always someone who could answer any / every question and give good recommendations. And all at such a low price! We loved it and will recommend you to everyone. Thanks.’

‘We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Room was quaintly decorated (Asian Hats) clean and well provided. Staff were friendly and helpful. (Thank-you for the gentleman who suggested that a motorcycle ride to the top of Doi Suthep for two ladies not used to riding a motorbike might not be advisable – traveling by song taew showed he was right!) Food was nice too. Thank-you.’

NOTE: we do respond to your comments!! When Larry wrote ‘most uncomfortable beds I’ve slept on since I quit mountain camping’ in January 2007 – we had a lie down and decided we could make it better and we did – all the beds now have an additional padding cover – thanks Larry!

‘I can't say enough great things about this guest house! It is truly a fantastic place to stay. I travel to Thailand about three times a year and coming to Seven Suns in Chiang Mai is always such a pleasure.

Seven Suns is located in the old city on a quant street. It is luckily far away from the awful night bazaar...but it is about two blocks from the marvelous Sunday Market where you can get some beautiful art and local crafts. It is a short walk to restaurants, bars, language classes and lots of fun things to do. If there are things you would like to do while you are traveling you can ask at the front desk for a recommendation. They have always been right on for me with great suggestions.

The staff is so personable and very interesting. They have a great restaurant, really good coffee and they even buy special fruit at the market to make my favorite fruit shake (best fruit shakes in Thailand!!!).

Some of the rooms are decorated with themes! I always stay in room 204. I am told that room 304 also has a nice view of the temple just behind the guest house.

I highly recommend Seven Suns. It will make your stay in Chiang Mai a great memorable experience instead of just another good time.’

‘We've visited Chiang Mai many times over the years and found this gem of a guesthouse in 2004. It's located in an ideal location within easy walking distance of the Sunday market and Night Bazaar, Thapai gate and the old city moat is only a gentle stroll of 10mins away. It's nice to stay in an area where it's easy to get around and you really don't need songthaews or tuks tuks, you'll see much more on foot and be you'll be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of Thai life.

If you do feel the need for a ride there's always a tuk tuk on hand and the staff will be happy to get one for you on request.

The rooms are spotlessly clean with nice fluffy pillows :), air-con, fridge and TV. All rooms have private bathroom with showers and have coffee/tea making facilities in the room and are serviced daily.

I found the staff at seven suns to be the best I've come across in my travels around Asia, always willing to offer help or advice or just sit and chat.

The restaurant area downstairs is a pleasant and social place to sit to meet other guests, tourists or travellers. Have some cold drinks, swap stories and get advice on where to go and what to see or sample some of the great food from the Thai - Western menu.  If you need an organised tour of any description, it can all be arranged at reception for you.

Seven suns is great place to stay in every respect and I highly recommend it....... in fact I miss it already! ... where’s my passport !!

Enjoy !!’
