Feng Shui
Dear Guests,
As you wander the halls and
rooms in Seven Suns you may find yourself asking questions like ‘why are the
rocks in the bathroom?’ or ‘why are there beads on the pillars in the
restaurant?’ The simple answer is Feng Shui. My friends will say there is a
simpler answer, which relates to my sanity, but let’s not go there!
Feng shui (pronounced “fung shway”) is the ancient Chinese practice of placement and arrangement of space to achieve harmony with the
environment. It is environmetal science, or geoscience that study how the
surrounding environments that would effect the human life. It mainly foccus on
the study of Earth’s magnetic-field (magnectic-flow)and geo-structure to the effects of human life. The term “Chi””氣” (“energy” or “flow of energy”)is most likely refering to the magnetic energy, and air
energy. The literal translation is “wind and water”.
Feng shui is a discrete Chinese belief system involving a mix of geographical, religious, philosophical, mathematical, aesthetic,
and astrological ideas.[1] It literally means “wind (feng) and water (shui)”, and is not simply a
decorating style, but a discipline with guidelines compatible with many
different decorating styles. For Example; residents who live close to the
power-pylon or power-station would have risks of their health because the
power-lines generate the violent magnetic-flow (field).
The source of the term is purported to come from the
Burial Book written by Guo Pu (郭璞) in the Jin Dynasty (晉朝). Qi (氣) rides the wind and
stops when it meets the boundary of water. The ancients manipulate Qi so that
it did not dissipate, and directed it so that it was retained. For this reason
this art is called Feng Shui.
Although people aren’t usually described as having good
or bad feng shui themselves,[1] believers in feng shui say that certain people by force of personality or
visual appearance are able to add or subtract from the feng shui of their
surroundings.

A local adviser visited Seven Suns and helped out with
ideas to make you feel more at home when staying with us at Seven Suns. Ok,
what you may not notice are the dragons hidden in the plants or the money frogs
pointing their coins into the building, but they are there, we also have
windchimes and three wise men to strengthen our house. You will not see any
bagua mirrors are we are not faced with any incoming bad energy.
The beads in the restaurant and those you see in the
hallways are to negate the killing corners which are created by a harsh point
in a building construction, we have many of these and we have blocked them
symbolically with our beads. If you don’t see a bead on a specific sharp point
then there may be another form of block, a plant, a lamp or another item in
front of the corner itself blocking its affect. By blocking the corners we aim
to increase your leve of comfort when you happen to sit directly in the path of
the point!
Also in the restaurant and in our dark corners we have
light or mirrors, mirror balls on the four corners of the restaurant are not a
tribute to the 70’s, they are to help create more light in that area. In the
stairwell next to the wise men, we burn candles to help with that dark place.
In the bedrooms, the rock on the floor of each bathroom
helps to draw the negative energy that exists in bathrooms to the floor, away
from you. Our adviser said that creating a beautiful bathroom is only cosmetic, the energy remains the same in the most beautiful,
cleanest and most white bathroom as in an older, smaller slightly used
bathroom. Our bathrooms will be updated during 2007, but for now please allow
our rocks to take away the negative energy.
While you may not see it either, there is a small jade
gourd in each bedroom to promote good health. We are sorry that the strength of
our gourds is sometimes not strong enough to counter the occasional stomach bug
you may experience in Thailand!
So please enjoy our space, we hope that you are
comfortable and that our efforts to increase your comfort from the Feng Shui to
the Friendly Staff make you feel at home!
